Our Story
The foundation supports this mission that was close to Maria's heart. Providing scholarship support for students pursuing higher education, assisting individuals and families affected by cancer, supporting organizations that provide services, treat, or advocate for cancer patients and their families, and contribute to cancer treatment facilities that provide life-saving care.
Through this foundation, Maria’s compassion, strength, and generosity continue to touch lives, bringing hope to others while carrying forward the faith and love that defined her life.

A Legacy of Compassion
The Maria Fortner Foundation is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Maria Catherine Fortner, a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend to all people. Our mission is to continue her legacy, to honor her life, through the things and people she held closest to her heart. We strive to Live like Maria by helping young students broaden their education, advocating for Cancer Patients and keeping her legacy alive, sharing her love and compassion with each one of you.

We strive to embody Maria's radiant spirit in everything we do, from supporting aspiring healthcare professionals through scholarships to funding innovative research that brings hope to those affected by cancer.
How We Make a Difference
The foundation engages the community through various initiatives, including our Annual Golf Outing, and the Buckeye Football Squares, as well as an annual tailgate in honor of Maria’s Birthday. We also offer a seamless donation platform for those wishing to contribute regularly, ensuring that every dollar goes towards making a meaningful impact.
